Renungan

When I am Old….

When I am old, and I am not as I used to be,
Please be patient with me and treat me with much understanding and care.

When I spilled the soup that was given to me,
When I could not remember again how to have my shoelaces tied together,
Please remember the times when I taught you, and guide you how to do it.

When I repeat what I said over and over again,…
the same things that I said,
and you are bored because of it,
Have great patience to listen to me,
Do not barge in to what I said,
In your childhood, I have to repeat myself many more times…
All the stories that I have told a hundred of times…
just to let you remember it and dream about it.

When I need you to bathe me,
Do not blame me..
Can’t you remember how I tried with my whole effort to hoax you to do the same thing?

When I am confused in dealing with new things and modern technologies,
Laugh me not.
Take time to ponder on how patient I was in answering to your every ‘Whys’ and ‘Hows’…

When both my legs are to weak to walk,
Reach out your young and healthy hands to guide me,
As I did when you were young and was unable to walk independently.

When I could not remember the topic of our conversation,
Give me, just a little bit more time,to remember it.
Our conversation topic was not the most important matter…
What matters most is to have you there, beside me, to listen to me.

When you see me aging,
do not be sad and cry over it.
No….not that, I beseech you
please bear with me, support me and understand me,
as I did when  you first started learning about life and all it lessons.

I walked with  you through the storms of life before,
when you were young.
Now, walk with me…until the end of the road that I have to travel.
Do not let me travel that road alone.

Give me love and patience,
not much, whatmore all that you have,
just give me a little…
and I will accept it with great smile and great thanks…
‘Cause…in the great smile that you see…
You will find the Great Thanks that I have…
Not for everyone else, but…
For the one and only loved child…
God’s greatest blessing for me…that is…
YOU, my beloved child.

(Dedicated to all my friends, please be grateful and thank your parents, with much love and whole-heartedly)
